The books chronicle the life and times of teenager Simon ‘Specky’ Magee, an Aussie Rules football champion in the making.

In 2008 the books were listed by readers in a nationwide Angus & Robertson Booksellers poll as the most popular Australian series for kids after Harry Potter and Roald Dahl books.

The books set the bar high for sports fiction and has been responsible for jump-starting a love of reading for thousands of young sport-loving Aussies. 

 

The best-selling series written by Felice and his former school-mate and AFL legend Garry Lyon has won five Australian Children’s Choice Book Awards and has sold well over a half a million copies.

 

The series has garnered five Australian Choice Book Awards, and in 2016
